Gwendal Le Bec is a French graphic artist and writer living and working in Paris. His practice varies between painting, children books, comic books and editorial illustration.
After graduating from the École Dupérré, he moved to New York. Across the Atlantic, he tried his hand at illustrating and writing for children’s albums, a field in which he excelled, winning the prize for best illustrated album in 2011.
His first graphic novel, Le Prolongement, published by Casterman, is coming out in April 2025.

Whilst living in New York, Gwendal bought his first oil pastels. The instant satisfaction he felt working in this medium opened a new door for him.
As opposed to his illustration work, which is focused on narratives and ideas, his painting practice is much closer to his sketching process – taking a step back to represent life, as he observes it.
